I thought I had things figured out

I planned to start over on my blog...and still do but it might go slower than first planned. I knew I was getting an upgrade on my sprint phone and hoped for a HTC Evo or iphone....so on Oct 1st I get the upgrade with the discount and on Oct 2 they took it away. Apparently since sprint is getting the iphone they are changing things up. One being no more one yr upgrades. UGH! I've been with them 9 yrs and I feel like a red headed stepchild. Because of no upgrade I'm stuck with the blackberry because I am not paying $400 to $600 for a phone. Its just not happening. Those phones would have made posting so much easier than sitting at this computer and hurting my shoulders. Oh well.....maybe I should ask for an ipad or something like it for Christmas. I don't have a upgrade until Aug 2012 so it will be awhile unless I come across a GREAT deal.

So lately I have been working, working and working with a little bit of Drex fun and crafting/DIYing in there too. I have these 2 chairs that are getting ready to go through a huge transformation. Bright colors will be a big part of it. I've always stuck to earth tones and I'm ready to branch out with the sunroom and make it bright and cheerful!

Goodbye to the black and gold colors and hello to new paint, fabrics of all sort and flour sacks.

Have I got you wondering?
Results to come soon.

*Thank you to all who have stuck by and still comment me, I know I haven't been around much and like I said I still read just don't comment so much. :(

My Yard Sale Bed and $3 Quilt

I found a bed at a yard sale that I had to have! I ask the man how much thinking he was going to say $75 or $100 and was happily surprised when he said $20! I love it when people are just trying to get rid of stuff they no longer want. The bed comes apart and I was determined to get it in my car but it was determined not to get in my car. Luckily the man lives down the road from us and said he would hold it until I could get the truck.

It was all scarred up but I knew with a little sanding and a paint color I feel in love with it would be pretty again. Don't pay attention to the bakers rack behind it. This is on the porch and has become a catch all.

So I sanded until my hands cramped up and painted...painted and painted some more.

Here it is completed. Sorry for the bad pics but my camera battery was dead and I have no patience to wait and charge them. See those HUGE old lamps? I'm so over the plain old shades and am searching for something unique to do to them. Any ideas??

See my $3 60 yr old hand stitched quilt? Love it so much! A lady I was working for was moving into her granddaughters house and selling everything. She said her mama made it out of her dresses and her daddys old work shirts. It's so cool to have something like this and know it's history. I often buy old things and wonder how they came about and if the people who had them before cherished them.

So that's the last thing I worked on and I have a dozen more in progress. That's my problem I start to many and with Christmas fast approaching I have others I want to get started. I also have to think of something for the nieces and nephews. I've had some ideas, thank you for commenting!, and I'm still not sure what to make them yet.

Do you go to yard sales? What do you call them? Yard sales, Rummage sales, carport sales????? We usually say yard sales or rummaging.

Until next time......

What I've been up to lately.

When I first started blogging at blogger it was about my family and my crafts and remodeling.
I've kinda gotten away from the crafts and remodeling...I still do them but I almost never post about them so today I thought I would show yall a little bit of what I've been up to.

Kelly gave me this mirror/picture frame/hanger and it was missing 2 hooks and was brown. I took it not knowing what I was going to do with it then thought it could be made into something cute for Drex's room...maybe for his hats and such.

Before..or during cause that's when I thought to take a pic.
After...just needs some pics of his cute face!

I made a few pony holders and matching earrings for little girls the other night...sorry the pic is so blurry-

I had some big pickle jars I keep cereal and oatmeal in and they were plain looking so I spray painted the lids and added a little twine with a decorative paper with what was in the jar with instructions n back.

This jar I bought at a yard sale,I wonder what was in it to begin with.

Last is my favorite thing to do. This sign is for my parents. They have it hanging on their porch right now. In the lower left hand corner it says est. '79.
I made Drex one with his name on it in bright colors,it's actually behind the Harrison one.

So this is what I've been up to lately...I know yall were dying to know!

It's Monday!

It is Monday...and that title is full of sarcasm,I'm never excited about Monday.

I'm not linking up to All About MEme Monday because I have never bought anything off tv but there are some great blogs on "Made for TV" so y'all go check them out.

Today is just a rambling blog...which is why I started blogging to begin with.
It has turned so cold again...that is not good for this pain but the good news is I go to the dr. Thursday for his final diagnosis and hopefully some pain meds ...if for nothing else to help me sleep. I take pics and all I see are dark circles...that is so not cool!
I am also having the dreaded MRI Thursday....

I have really neglected my etsy lately and I have actually been selling things. Although I did sell something the other day that I donated for Jadena nd had to explain why it was still listed and I'll give you 4 free...blah blah blah.
She was really sweet and said she would take some other pins.
Thank God...What I did ...or didn't do was take the item off of the list for sell. I also didn't have any more of that super cool paper to make any more like the ones she ordered!
Oh well...it's all taken care of.
Sunday I wore one of my rolled roses headbands to church and had a lot of compliments on it...that makes me smile.
 :)
...see.

I have several people who ask where the etsy was and I told them I would be making more but if they wanted certain colors just to let me know and I would do some custom jobbies. Same goes for bloggy friends!

Here's a few pics of the one I wore yesterday...don't look at the dark circles!

They are $6.95 in my etsy but mention you seen this post and you can get one for $5.

DIY From country shelf to not so country shelf- loving some paint and mod podge!

I got this shelf from  a lady I work for that is around 6 ft tall. It was this very country blue color and the bottom doors had hearts cut into them. I'm not into the country look so much so I changed it up. IThere are a few things I did that I'm not liking so much but will change it when I have time. I didn't take a before pic of the whiole thing because I forgot...what else is new?

At the last minute I remembered I forgot to take a before pic so I got the drawers...see? country blue.

Country blue and cut out hearts...ahhh no.

First coat of black paint, not real sure it is going to stay black and paint is easy to change.

I mod podged some fabric to the back and do not like how it looks so it will be changed to paper.

Doors opened, I cheated and didn't paint the back of them. I'll catch up with it later also.
I didn't take pics of the bottom...don't know why but I mod podged some paper to the back and like it alot better than the fabric.... I bet that fabric will be  booger bear to take off.
I also did not like the microwave on it so the top shelf is now sitting on the bottom shelf like it was made. It looks MUCH better without the microwave.

PS- If anyone happens to have a bunch of bandanas they don't want I am looking for a lot of them. I will be happy to buy them and pay postage...of course!
Ebay has some but these people are crazy on postage. I am not going to pay $9.99 for 5 bandanas to be mailed to me. That's not including the purchase price!

How I spent last Saturday.

The surprise giveaway ends Sunday, make sure you enter!
Interested in a coupon to try the new bounce bar? Go here!

I have been wanting to do something with our be
droom for a long time now. Britt had teh dresser when we moved in and I wasn't liking it very much. I painted the walls a "gold" color that reminded me of mustard a while back and wanted them GONE! A lady I know gave me a hanging quilt rack a few years ago and I don't think I have any before pics of it but it was your typical stained wood look with a heart cut in the back...both had to go.

My mustard colored walls that I had started smearing paint on and remembered I wanted a before shot...hotdogs anyone?
Some frames I had the kids pics in,gotta modge podge them up!

Frame with Linzy in it all modge podged on wall now painted a light beige color from the mistint shelf.

dresser before , don't pay attention to floor were fixing (Kel I used that word for you) to lay new carpet.

dresser drawers during

dresser after. I like it all except the bottom drawers,I'll fix them later. I spray painted the pulls. I love some spray paint!

quilt rack after. I painted, distressed and modge podged. No more heart! pic is dark, sorry.

That's what I did last Saturday and I was tired! I'm joining Kimbas Do it Yourself Day at A soft place to land. There's lots of great DIY ideas over there,go check them out.

UPDATE

Ok I think I got this figured out. Mom got out of the hospital Monday, Dad was admitted Tuesday and got out Thursday. Friday morning he was back at the ER and they sent him home after a morphine shot and a prescription for percocet. (spl)
He is in so much pain and it would not go away. Saturday morning Mom had him back at the ER and they admitted him again. They are talking about connective tissue disorder and have mentioned lupus. He is on a pain pump again and hopefully they WON'T send him home again til they find out what the problem is. Please keep my dad and mom in your prayers.

Almost finished....I hope

This is the top to my wardrobe thingy. It's the only piece that was ruined where I'd have to replace it. Thankfully my FIL has a piece of veneer I can have to replace it. Apparently the lady that had it had loaded it into her truck and left it outside til the next day...and it rained! Oh well her loss is my gain.

This is the inside of the drawers. I decoupaged old hymnal pages and then went over them several times with stain. This was after just once with the stain.

This is behind the little mirrored door in the middle. I might have went a lil crazy with this one...too much decoupage?

Behind long doors that have the chicken wire. I put some heart and flower trim on edges and painted the inside a creamy yellow. I also put the hymnal pages on the shelves, not sure if that's going to stay or not yet....still pondering that one.

Before shelves were put in and those white pages were stained. There's no top on it right now so the lil archy thing (don't you love how I can't think of words) is off. I have some old material that looks like feed bags but isn't that I'm thinking of putting behind the chicken wire. Still pondering that one too.
