It doesn't matter if your child is 4 or 24...when you take them to the ER they are still your baby.

At 1am my phone rang last night...it was Kelly telling me she didn't have feeling in the left side of her face and it was drooping and she was scared. Of course first thing I thought was stroke but the more I talked to her I started thinking nerves or a bug bite. She didn't wanna go to ER. I told her to put a hot rag on it and call me if anything changes.
....I go back to sleep
At 730ish AM my phone rings and scares me again. Its Nikki saying she's staying with Kel cause her face is worse, I tell her I'm on my way and call my brother. He is a paramedic and I always use his knowledge to my advantage..... He says it sounds like Bells Palsy and get her to dr before it gets worse.

So I get Kel to ER and it was the shortest time I have ever spent in the ER at our hospital. They call her to get her vitals and as soon as they hear what's wrong she's put in a wheelchair and taken to trauma and hooked up to heart monitor. I was scared but kept my composure but she cried....broke my heart that she was so scared. Within minutes the dr comes in and ask if she knows what's wrong with her and Kel laughs and says no. (Her attitude through this has been wonderful. She can't move the left side of her face, her eye won't close right, nothing taste good and she keeps calling herself crooked) I tell him we think bells palsy and he says we are right. So she gets some mega steroids and has to take 3200mg a day of another med. It can take up to 6 weeks for her to heal and it might get worse before it gets better....which it has. Her eye won't close now and her vision is blurred. We were in and out within an hour.

She's 24 but she's my baby, please keep her in your prayers.

I'm so sorry. You are so right that it doesn't matter about their age. I got one of those calls from 3 states away last year and ended up with my daughter at the hospital, too. Hers was appendix and an infection that followed removal. And, she's in her 30s! Hope your daughter's recovery is easy and quick.

Just a thought for you. My sister had it REALLY bad. She had physical therapy for it and it helped, but she did not have that right away. She has since been told that if she had physical therapy for it sooner she would have had better results. I just wanted to tell you that in case it could help her.I'm no doctor, but I watched her with this and it was horrible. Now her daughter got it and she was such a beautiful girl. I'll pray for your daughter.

Our babies are our babies, no matter what their age is. I'm so glad she did go to the ER. Sending good thoughts to you and your family!

Horrible, I can't even imagine what she is going through, but know it would suck.

Prayers for the sick family (read your FB status). Y'all take care of you.
