What Easter means to me.

When I think of Easter the one thing that always comes to mind is when I was little and all of us (cousins) would be at memaws and pepaws for food and egg hunting. Easter was a big deal to us back then and it's sad that as we got older we got away from that. Memaw and pepaw are gone now and what I would give to have one more Easter as a child with them.

I also remember going to the park with the church and hunting eggs. I had so much fun doing that! One Easter I was 5 yrs old and in the hospital getting my tonsils and adnoids out. The preacher came up and promised me he would save me a chick and he didn't....I never ever forgot that.

We always got new clothes for Easter. My kids always got new clothes too but where I got a new dress and shoes they ended up getting short sets after they were older. When they were babies they got dresses.

I think back now and can honestly say I don't remember the last time I dyed eggs. That's sad....
Drex will be here next year for Easter and we are going to dye eggs!

Thats Kelly on the right. She was around 3 or 4 and we lived in Reno. It was sad in Reno on Easter, I missed my family so bad...I remember crying that day.

Nikki is on the right. This was her first Easter. She was almost 1. She had so many frills on that day. That dress had a bonnet with it but she wouldn't keep it on. Her great-grandma Nan bought it for her and I still have it. The dress will be 28 years old tomorrow.

In all the memories of Easter I hope we don't forget the real reason for it. It's all about the resurrection
and what He did for us.

God’s love was the way
To the old wooden cross
When we had no hope
And were eternally lost
He offered unto us
A new life in Him
Through His fateful death
And His resurrection

Great post! And you know it has been several years since I have dyed Easter eggs and I have little kids still... somehow we just never get around to that every year, pretty sad I know.

Thanks for coming by my blog today
