I got a box of goodies!!

I went to a thrift store today and look at what I got!
A BIG box of goodies.

It was all in a box with the box inside a HUGE ziplock bag.

See the old man head? He has a mop body....wondering what to do with him.

Here's a close up of him.

Millinery flowers...bags and bags of them!

See how pretty?

It also had a bag full of garters...like brides wear. ????

I got the whole box for $6, here's a few of the things that was in the box.
bag of white feathers
beads
Christmas patterns
flowers
photo frames
hair clips....(might need to learn how to make some bows for these.)
plaster of paris molds
plaques
ribbon
baskets
cording
stencils....lots of stencils

And a lot more.

I think I'm going to add some of the millinery flowers to etsy and maybe the patterns too. The patterns are from Avon....When did Avon sell patterns?

Stay warm!

PAY IT FORWARD Giveaway **GIVEAWAY CLOSED!**

Around the first of December I won a Pay it Forward giveaway at Brooke's blog Smart + Strong =
Sexy. It will be a simple gift given to 3 people who comment on my blog telling me about an act of kindness that you have done for someone OR an act of kindness you heard about or seen that touched you.
I'll be picking the winners by drawing names the old fashion way. Please remember if you win , you need to continue paying it forward.

The gift? I'm not sure yet...I will have 2 or 3 frugal gifts and you can pick which one you would like. The giveaway will run from today til next Tuesday, Jan. the 27th.

Good luck and thank you!!

I realized I didn't tell my act of kindness-

In 2004 I had just gotten divorced, was working 3 jobs and was broke like nobodies business. It was getting cold and I knew the water pipes under my house that my soon to be ex husband was suppose to wrap would freeze...I didn't need that. I would have gotten under there and done it myself but I'm very claustrophobic. So at one of my jobs, I worked at a small country store, there was this guy who told me to buy the foam wrappers and for $20 he would get under there and wrap everything for me. I literally paid this young man in almost all change, even pennies. I was broke...very. So the kindness part comes in when I went to check the mail. I had an envelope with a small card in it written in red crayon that said "we love you." and there was 2 $20 bills in it. I still don't know who sent me that money. I suspect it was from a person at my church but no one had ever told me. I needed that $20 so bad and God knew that. I still tear up about that card and $20.

If you found me through Bloggy Giveaways Carnival, thank you and you can get back there thru this link and if you didn't find me through the carnival....go check it out!!!

I have decided to run this giveaway til next Tuesday. So I'll be more prepared! I'll choose 3 winners on the 2nd of February. Can you believe February is almost here? Seems like it was Christmas just last week!

Just another Saturday and a future giveaway!

Just another Saturday here in South Arkansas, I still have my pj's on....shhhhh.
I'm really not sitting around being lazy though. I finished staining the rest of the walls in the new living room.

I added a few brooches to my etsy, you can see them on the side over there. I have a really cute Cupid brooch if anyone is interested.

I thought having an etsy would be sooo easy, it's hard work! Getting all your pics and adding them and hoping your wording everything so that people will be interested enough to look closer. I have more things to put in the shop but not enough time to list them. I'm apparently horrible at taking "good" pictures! How in the world do you people photograph jewelry? Mine look terrible.
I want to make some more handpainted signs and put them in the shop also...again when I find time.

Tonight we are having steak quesadillas, I love some Mexican food and will start cooking about 4pm central time so if anyone has an advice on making great quesadillas let me kjnow by then please!

Ok I have to go get steaks out of freezer, you guys have a great weekend and make sure and come back, I plan on having a Pay it Forward giveaway Tuesday!

Trash to Treasure Tuesday

***11-12-09 I'm adding this to the DIY Show Off Show and Tell Surprise Party.

So a sloppy second for you all.***

I thought I would post to Diane's Trash to Treasure. I've been lurking over there and seeing all the great thrifty finds for a while now...might as well join the fun! This is a armoire (spl) I found in a thrift store. I only paid $80 for it and thought that was a bargain. Someone had done a dry paint all over it in blue and I really didn't like how it looked. I also think it might have been left outside because it was filthy inside. It only has 4 knobs in this picture and since I redid it i lost one so I only have 3 now. Maybe I'll come across 2 like these? Probably not...

I think it might have originally had glass where the chicken wire is now.

This is after sanding and using paint remover *stinky* for what seemed forever. I had so many cramps in my hands doing the sanding on this thing.
I painted the inside a cream color and decoupaged old hymnal sheets on the shelves. I had some pretty ribbon I put on the edges.

I decided to hang some burlap like material behind the wire while I used it as extra storage....I might change that up once we get finished with the remodeling on the house.

For more Trash to Treasure Go check out Diane's place. Thanks!

RAMBLINGS

+
You can't tell very well but this is my African Violet and it's BLOOMING! Yay me...I have always killed these in the past. This one has been alive for almost a year now.

Just a quick update on my exercising...I skipped day 10 because I was sick but I did do 27 minutes last night. (day 11) I know 27 minutes is a crazy number to stop at but I honestly couldn't/wouldn't go any further. I am feeling a lot better today though so I will try to go past 30 minutes tonight.

I didn't have to work today because I had to go get my yearly mammogram. My mom ask if it hurt...it has never hurt me. I guess you have to be a bit more voluptuous than me for the mammogram to hurt or be uncomfortable. Anyway it's over and now I just have to wait for the reults. Ladies go get yours!

+This pouch...tote...gift thing? I'm not sure what it is really but a few years ago a lady at church who had me for a hidden honey gave it to me for Valentines day filled with goodies. I haven't done anything with it since so I was thinking of selling it on Etsy. I just need to know what it's called, it's homemade and really cute.

Do you and your spouse trade Valentine's gifts? Last year we didn't but the year before my hubby bought me one of those jewelry armoires,, he got home about midnight after work and put it together and I seen it when I got ready for bed....it was a huge surprise.

My dad said Valentines were for boys to get their sweethearts something so I haven't ever been big on getting my husband something. How do you celebrate that holiday?
